A Birthday, A Trip, and A Relay...

Last week, we celebrated Ashton's birthday. Over the holiday weekend, we traveled with Chris's parents and Karl and Angie to Kitchener, Ontario; Detroit, Michigan; and Toledo, Ohio. Yesterday, I helped the kindergarten class at the Relay for Life festivities at the football field/track. Here are some pics from our adventures.

Over a Third of the Way There!

As you can see below, we are now over a third of the way to our goal for the Metekle School project in Ethiopia! A huge THANK YOU to those of you who helped us reach this milestone...we appreciate it so much! Children both now and in the future will be blessed with an education because of your generous hearts, and we pray that God will richly reward you for your kindness. We have until December to raise the rest of the funds, so be watching for other fundraisers coming up. Next month, we plan to have a pancake and sausage breakfast...more details will be available soon. Thanks again, everyone!

Happy Birthday, Ashton!

This guy is 11 years old today! Wow, how time flies! We love you so much, Ashton, and hope you have a wonderful birthday!

These two ran their first 5K on Saturday morning. Ashton placed 6th overall, and won the age 13 and under category. Great job, boys!

Celebrations...

 1. I recently attended the middle school academic awards ceremony. Shana and Adrian each walked away with 4 awards (Shana- all A's throughout middle school...6th, 7th, and 8th grade, all A's this year, outstanding achievement in American History and outstanding achievement in the geography bee. Adrian - outstanding achievement in Social Studies, all A's and B's in the 6th grade, perfect attendance this year, and outstanding achievement in national physical fitness.) Great job, guys! Keep up the good work!

2. Last weekend, the whole family surprised Chris's parents with a trip to Shipshewana, Indiana for their 40th anniversary. We had given them a 2-night package so they could have some time alone, and then the rest of us joined them for the weekend. They were certainly surprised and thrilled! We had a great time of shopping, eating, swimming, and playing ball.

3. Mother's Day brought about some interesting cloud formations over our house:

4. It also brought about some interesting Mother's Day cards from Jalen and Jordan. The following picture is of yours truly. :-)

5. We had an early birthday party for Ashton. He will be 11 years old next week!

That's all for now! Have a great day!
