Buna!

We will be serving Tomoca Ethiopian buna (coffee) at our Metekle Ethiopian School Benefit Dinner on November 5th, and we will have some for purchase on the silent auction, too. Did you know that Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee? A goat herder named Kaldi discovered coffee when he noticed that his goats became very energetic after eating the beans from a certain tree. He decided to make a drink from the beans, and the rest is history! Today, Kaldi's coffee shop in Ethiopia is similar to Starbuck's in the U.S. I have attended many traditional coffee ceremonies in Ethiopia, and while the coffee from freshly-roasted beans is strong, it is very sweet and never bitter. And it has the most delicious aroma! It is usually served with popcorn and traditional bread (dabo), and incense is burned throughout the ceremony.

We hope to see you on November 5th!!!
