Alaska!

Chris and I took Ashton on an Alaskan cruise for his senior trip/graduation gift. We drove to Toronto, flew to Vancouver, and then boarded the Serenade of the Seas to head north to Alaska via the Inside Passage. We visited Ketchikan, Tracy Arm Fjord, Juneau, Hubbard Glacier, and Sitka before arriving back in Vancouver. God blessed us with a wonderful week full of amazingly gorgeous sights and conditions. In every port, we were told, "You certainly are lucky today! It is warm and sunny! It usually rains and is cloudy all day...we are in a rainforest after all. We typically receive 130 inches of rain a year!" We had absolutely beautiful weather...no rain at all until the very last day on the way back to Vancouver. Were also able to get closer to Hubbard Glacier than normal and ventured further into Tracy Arm Fjord than usual because the ice build-up wasn't too bad. On Auke Bay in Juneau, we were very privileged to witness a mama and baby humpback whale performance right in front of us that lasted for an hour! They breached many times, which is very unusual. Our bus driver told us that he has lived in Juneau for a couple of years and has never seen a whale breach. We also spotted a couple of orca pods, another rarity. God showed up mightily for us, and we thank him for a wonderful week of relaxation with our grad!

I'll break our Alaska trip up into several posts due to the multitude of pictures. 😀

Crossing the Ambassador Bridge into Canada:

My very favorite thing about Canada? Cadbury Mini Eggs all year round!

Here we go!

Next up...a few photos of the ship, the harbor, and sailing away!

Of course our stateroom attendant made cute little towel animals for us. 😊

We spent quite a bit of time in the hot tubs.

Next we'll take a tour of our first port...Ketchikan! Stay tuned...
