Our Trip to Ethiopia, Day 6

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

Today, we met for breakfast before walking to the school. We went back to work hauling water and stacking cement blocks. The men started demolition of all the wood supports in what will be the second floor classrooms.

Mathewos and the kiddos:

By late morning, it got too dangerous for us to be there as all of the wood and metal came crashing down, so we walked back to the Axum for lunch. Afterward, we visited Kisanet school to see the library that we built 2 years ago.

At Kisanet, Richard got to meet the boy he sponsors. He has grown tremendously in the past 2 years since we have seen him!

Wass then took us on a tour of the Martyr's Memorial and statue.

We returned to the hotel to rest and eat dinner. Wass joined us again afterward, and took Richard to get an Ethiopian haircut and shave. Rachael, Malia, and my camera went along.

Wass put a few braids in Malia's hair while they waited.

When they got back, Richard, Rachael, Phil, Chris, Malia, Quintin, and I got dessert and tea before heading to bed.
