We ate breakfast at our hotel before catching a shuttle to the airport for our connecting flight to Addis Ababa. The flight was late, so we visited some of the shops and Starbucks in the Dubai airport.
Rain was POURING from the sky as we walked out of the airport, but we finally found the guest house van amidst the chaos around us. Haile and Azeb were there to meet us, too. It took some maneuvering to get our 18 bags plus carry ons loaded, but we finally headed to Ordinary Hero guest house.
We saw lots of familiar sights as we drove through the streets. When we arrived at the guest house, I laughed when I saw a piece of blue tape across the glass beside the door. Know why it was there? So people can see it if the power is out and don't walk through it! In other words, it's there because of Chris's mishap when we were here 2 years ago. I walked into the lobby, and the girl at the desk recognized me, but it wasn't until Chris walked in that she put 2 and 2 together. "You!" she said, and started laughing hysterically. All the people at OH think it's hilarious that Chris walked through the glass last time. :)
We were exhausted, but I wanted to stay awake until late evening so I wouldn't wake up halfway through the night. We talked to the kids at home for a bit in the evening, but the internet was very spotty. The twins claimed they weren't tired at all, but they fell asleep on a couch in the breakfast room while we talked to the kids. :)
Our room had 5 beds total; one queen and 4 twins, but Jalen and Jordan chose to sleep together in one twin bed. Crazy kids!
