Last night and this morning, I was extremely overwhelmed with the thought that Vitaly will be with us for just one month. ONE month for us to show him the love of a family. ONE month to show him that he is loved, that he is precious, that he matters. ONE month to show him God's love and plan of salvation! ONE MONTH - and we don't even speak the same language as he does. The enormity of the situation threatened to swallow me up whole. Our time together will be short; I want, need, to make the most of it. Each second is extremely important. I sat contemplating the weight of it all and pleading with God to help us, to give us His grace and to make our time together powerful. I then opened the Bible to Zechariah, where I read these verses:
"Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee."
"And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the Lord, and ye shall know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God."
And I relaxed a little. God is over this, through this, and around this. He has the power to change this little boy's life, and to use very weak people like us to help make it happen. He will water the seeds that we plant. All we have to do is trust. I am humbled by the thought of it, and am confident that our lives will be changed as well. It's a little overwhelming to think about, but it feels really good to be a part of something so much bigger than myself. In fact, I would have to say that stepping out in faith is one of the best feelings in the world.
