1. We had our family Christmas on December 23. The kids didn't know it, but we had planned a surprise trip for them this year instead of buying them a bunch of "stuff." So I wrapped a big box that they all opened together. Inside, I placed 6 envelopes...one for each of them. Inside the envelopes were slips of paper with random words written on them. When they had all opened their envelopes, they had to put the words together to make a sentence.
The sentence said, "We are going on a trip so you will have to pack your clothes." We then made them guess where we were going.
Jalen guessed it correctly...Florida! They were thrilled! We informed them that we planned to leave the day after Christmas for Illinois to see Grandma E, and then we would head south to Fort Walton Beach from there.
2. On Christmas Eve, we had Chris's family Christmas.
3. On Christmas morning, the kids opened their stockings.
4. In the afternoon on Christmas Day, we got together with the big M family.
5. On December 26, we drove out to Illinois to visit Grandma, Uncle Sam and Aunt Pat, and all the cousins.
And Malia got to spend some more time with her beloved baby goats.
6. Then, we drove to Florida, which will be the subject of my next post.
7. We got home from Florida on January 2, and my family's Christmas was the following day.
We had a very busy but fun Christmas break! Today, the kids went back to school, so we're back to the old routine. Happy New Year, everyone!
