Our Trip to Ethiopia, Day 9

Saturday, June 18, 2016

After breakfast, we visited Metekle school one more time to take photos with the workers.

On the way back to the hotel, we saw this huge bee/bug thing. Wass picked it up to give us a closer view.

Wass drove us to the airport for our flight to Addis, and then he began the long drive back. Upon our return, Jill and Carson left us to spend some time with her sister's family (they were in town meeting some of their children's birth families). Chris, Richard, Phil, and I went to see Tom in the hospital while everyone else returned to the guest house. We got the news earlier in the week that Tom had some more testing done, and it was decided that he needed surgery right away. The poor guy can't eat anything and has a lot of pain. He just held our hands and cried.

Afterward, Danny drove us to some leather shops, where we purchased some really cool pieces to sell at our silent auction fundraisers this fall. The problem is, I love them so much that I want to keep them for myself, especially the gorgeous brown leather duffel bag. Oh well...it's all for a good cause.

Here's a sneak peak:

Richard scored a really cool leather jacket, satchel bag, and wallet.

We finished the day with dinner at Yod Abyssinia.

Tomorrow is our last day here...we fly home in the evening!
