Our Trip to Ethiopia and Dubai, Day 6

Tuesday, July 3, 2018

I slept much better than the previous night, and didn't wake up until 7:30. We got ready for the day, packed our bags for our flight back to Addis, checked out of our rooms, and went to the market. We priced some items, including rice, corn, and lentils for a food program we are interested in starting here.

We ate lunch back at the Baro Hotel, and had fun feeding bread to the Colobus monkeys. Wass left around 1:00 to start the long drive back to Addis in the van, and the rest of us left around 2:00 to head to the airport.

The boys have been famous for the last couple of days. All over Gambella Town, we hear, "Opiyew! Uchan!" It seems everyone knows who they are. Even the guard at the airport wanted her photo taken with them. Jordan says he likes being famous. :) Their birth mom has lots of friends, for sure.

 Goodbye, Gambella!

The long road from the airport into town:

Hello, Addis Ababa!

We had an uneventful flight, but when we got back to Addis, we found out that Azeb was sick. We were worried that she had malaria, but it turned out she was pretty dehydrated. Anyway, she headed to the hospital while we took a different and very long route back through the city to Ordinary Hero.

Mathewos came to see us when we got back. It was so good to see him again! I love this man and his laugh. :)

Mathewos showed us Kembata, the city he is from, on a map.

We ate a dinner of Mexican food, including fresh guacamole. Yum!

In the evening, one of the OH staff members put a movie on for the twins (they laughed hysterically the whole time!), while I caught up on some communication to home. Then, we showered (it felt so good to enjoy a warm shower and feel clean again!) and got ready for bed.
