After church in Lester, IA, we drove by the Corn Palace (an odd little tourist trap) in Mitchell, SD before heading to the Badlands National Park (so desolate, and SO beautiful!) We passed some old ghost towns, a sod house, and a prairie where Laura Ingalls Wilder's family lived at one point during the author's youth. Afterward, we stopped by Wall Drug (supposedly another West must-see) on our way to our hotel in Sturgis, SD.
