Today we got our FDL in the mail. For those of you who have no idea what an FDL is - it is a Favorable Determination Letter, which is a very important document from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) sector of the Department of Homeland Security. Basically, it tells us that the government has determined that we are able to furnish proper care to an orphan. We, of course, already knew this, but now that the government agrees with us, we are good to go! This document is required before we can get a referral of a child. So we're really excited to be at this point, and I'm really surprised that we got it so soon! Our USCIS fingerprinting appointment was less than two weeks ago, so I guess they're really on the ball! Yay!
Have a wonderful 4th of July!
