Bookin' It to Ethiopia Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction

Wow. We were blown away by the generous support that Kelsi and Tiffany received at the spaghetti dinner and silent auction that they held for their Bookin' It to Ethiopia project on Saturday night. They raised close to $10,000! Their goal is $26,000, which will build a new library and fill it with books at the Kisanet Primary School in the city of Mekele, Ethiopia. Here in America, we take education for granted. But in Ethiopia.....

Between 60-150 million kids live on the streets

Half the children will never attend school

Due to the impacts of extreme poverty, on-going
drought and disease on families, only 18% of all
children in Ethiopia stay in school to grade five.

The library at Kisanet will be a huge benefit to helping children get the education they need in order to break the cycle of poverty. We are so excited to be partnering with Kelsi and Tiffany on this project, and are looking forward to next May when we will all travel to Ethiopia together to put the finishing touches on the library and present the keys to the school.

Here are some photos from the fundraising event:

Silent auction items:

Chris and I did a little power point presentation with statistics and pictures of Ethiopia.

A huge thank you to all of you who came to the dinner, donated items for the silent auction, or bid on items. Your support is greatly appreciated!! And great job, Kelsi and Tiffany! You're well on your way to completing the Kisanet library!
