This morning, we arrived in Addis Ababa a little before 8:00. It took awhile to go through customs and get our baggage.
Outside, we were met by Mathewos, Wass, and Nafkot, our driver for the week. On the way to Ordinary Hero Guest House, we stopped at Tomoca, where we enjoyed macchiatos and ordered bags of coffee to take home.
We settled into the guest house, and reunited with Shana and Darci. Then Fray, who works at the guest house, took us to Gabies, her blanket shop. Gabies employs weavers from the nearby Korah area and people from the leprosy hospital to spin the yarn. For every 3 blankets that are sold, Gabies donates one to poor people living on the mountain where it gets cold. We purchased some towels and blankets after hearing her story, and then headed back to the guest house.
Chris, Shana, Darci, and I met with Frehiwot, the sister of Shana and Darci's Amharic teacher. She invited us to dinner at her home later in the week.
Then most of us took a long walk to Fili Coffee before dinner, where we ordered watermelon juice and met Fili, the owner, who had become a friend of Shana and Darci over the last week.
After the long walk back to the guest house, we enjoyed dinner followed by some games. Some of the team stayed up to talk later, and got very slap happy according to the videos I saw later. 🤣 I was super tired after the long flight, and headed to bed.
