This morning, Chris, Adrian, and Ashton went with Wass to do some shopping for the sponsorship program and to buy some hygiene items for an orphanage. The rest of us went to Unity Park on the Prime Minister's palace grounds, where we spent the morning at the playground, touring the gardens and Haile Selassie's throne room, and visiting the zoo.
When we left Unity Park, we drove to Chanoly Noodles for lunch. Wass, Chris, Adrian, and Ashton pulled up beside us on the street, and Marcy opened her window and yelled, "China!" at them. (Everyone here yells "China!" or "British!" to us when they pass us on the street, thinking we're from one of those places. Also, we find it highly amusing when the girls get winks or kisses blown at them while we're driving somewhere. Shana even had a federal policeman wink at her.)
After a wonderful lunch, we met Stephen, a farming professional from Gambella, who had flown in that morning. Omod, Stephen, and Pastor Omod went to look at and price farm equipment, Shana and Darci left with Bizzy to do stuff for their business, and the rest of us went to the National Museum of Ethiopia.
After returning to the guest house, we packed some of our luggage since we would be leaving the next day, had some business meetings, visited the little store across the street, ate dinner, and had arm wrestling contests. Most of the team went to Fili Coffee in the evening, while Adrian, Ashton, and I took a walk and purchased kolo and Mirinda. We then met with the birth family, and Pastor Omod translated for us. We had a great time hearing stories about J and J when they were little and telling their birth family some more recent stories of the boys. It was a wonderful, emotional time together.
A little store across the street from the guest house where the boys went all week to purchase pop.
