Our Trip to Ethiopia, Day 5

 Monday, January 8, 2024

I did not sleep last night. My body is having a hard time adjusting to the time difference. After breakfast and devotions, we drove to the Korah trash dump community. My girls, Tarikua, Hiwet, and Muna, joined us since they didn’t have school today. With a huge thanks to generous donors from back home and ALL glory to God, we were able to purchase one month’s worth of food and supplies (rice, flour, oil, macaroni and soap) for 100 widows and their families who live in the trash dump. We also will be able to pay the monthly rent for 100 families and pass out Bibles, baby formula, and clothing. We repackaged the food from bulk bags to smaller portions, enjoyed lunch at Chanoly, visited some of the homes in Korah, and heard stories of the people who live there. The living conditions are heartbreaking, and prices have increased so much that people cannot afford to eat. The help we are giving is only temporary…please keep praying for these beautiful people made in God’s image.

We ate dinner back at Ordinary Hero, and then our friend, Omod, came to see us. We gave him a photo album to take back to Gambella for J and J’s birth family.
