This morning, we drove to the SIM compound to meet with Kibir about the recycling project for Korah. This is the compound where we stayed in March when we were here…oh, the memories! Then, while Chris, Daniel, and Shana stayed for more meetings, the rest of the team and I went to the post office area shops for souvenirs. We met back up with Uncle Russ and the Kibir team for lunch at the Hilton. In the afternoon, we visited Fray’s business, Gabies Blanket Shop, where she employs local weavers and uses yarn spun at the leprosy hospital in Korah. For every blanket purchased, one is given to poor families who live in the mountains around Addis.
We stopped for coffee and to visit Shega market before having dinner back at the guest house. In the evening, a new friend named Kendra, who is a missionary originally from Iowa, came to meet us. We played games and she shared her story with us. She currently works at one of the orphanages that we used to visit.
